To me, there are much more important things in this world than money. The Bible encourages us to give generously & with a cheerful heart. I love to travel & go on adventures, but I really wanted to find a way to do this while also demonstrating God's love for others. Therefore, I created a yearly Calendar with my travel pictures, which supports "Feed the Children", a non-profit who delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty, or natural disasters.
What exactly is "Feed the Children"?
Feed the Children believes that it can create a world where no child goes to bed hungry. Since 1979, Feed the Children has grown into one of the largest U.S.-based charities. It is accredited by GuideStar Exchange and the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, maintains a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, and is also a member of InterAction. Through its network of agencies, Feed the Children distributed more than $344 million in food, essentials, educational supplies, and medicine, impacting close to 9 million individuals in the U.S. and more than 4.9 million individuals internationally, for a total of 13.9 million individuals globally in fiscal year 2014.

Why support "Feed the Children"?
Feed the Children's vision is to "create a world where no child goes to bed hungry." The team attempts to embody Christian values, integrity, resourcefulness, stewardship and transparency. Unlike many popular non-profit organizations, a vast majority- that is 89% of donations go directly towards helping end Child Hunger.
There are countless verses in the Bible that talk about the importance of children. One of my favorites is Matthew 18:2-5.
"He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me." - Matthew 18:2-5
Clearly, God cherishes the children of this world. If children are this important to God, they certainly should be important to us. In addition to food, the organization focuses on poverty, health, education, & access to clean drinking water. One passage that really summarizes the biblical stance on treating the poor & giving as a whole is 1 John 3. Jesus makes it clear that we are to care for those in need & put our faith into action.
"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence" - 1 John 3:17-19
I’m proud to support Feed the Children and its mission to provide hope and resources for those without life’s essentials. By joining with them, I plan to help them create a world where no child goes to bed hungry.
