The top sights in Iceland in my opinion are:
1) Laugavegur Trek
2) West Fjords
3) Ring Road (South & North in particular)
4) Golden Circle (overrated)
TOP PLACES: West Fjords, Laugavegur Trek, South Coast

TRAVEL ROUTE: Reykjavik -> Landmannalaugur -> Thorsmork -> Skoafoss/Seljavallalaug Zwembad -> Vik -> Skaftafell -> Jokusarlon -> Lake Myvatn -> Isafjorour -> Flokalundur -> Reyjavik
TIPS: Bring a tent/camping gear, rent a car a do the ring road, make sure to allow for atleast 2 days in the west fjords, seek out the many natural hot springs around the island.
